Moscow Restaurant Explosion Claims Three Lives

At least three people were killed and 15 others injured when a powerful blast tore through a restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square in Moscow’s city centre, police announced early Monday afternoon.

The explosion was reported around 8 pm local time (5 pm GMT) when a wedding reception, held by a private party, was in full swing with roughly fifty guests at the venue. Witnesses told the Baza Telegram channel that the blast appeared to have originated in the kitchen area.

According to RIA, heavily armed law‑enforcement officers arrived on the scene in full protective gear, and the surrounding streets were shut down for a brief period while rescue teams canvassed the area for survivors and conducted a preliminary investigation.

Civilians, including a large group of cyclists who had been planning an evening ride through the city, were forced to divert for an adjacent safety evacuation after the incident.

The Kremlin and City authorities have yet to confirm a motive or responsible party, but security services will investigate all protocols at public venues. The incident has sparked calls from civil‑rights groups for tighter oversight of private event licensing in Moscow.
