Fatal Shooting at Toronto Salsa Street Festival

At least two people were killed and six others wounded in a shooting that occurred during the annual Salsa on St Clair Latin festival on St Clair Avenue, Toronto.

Police received reports of an active shooter at about 8:12 p.m. local time (1:12 a.m. BST) and responded swiftly. Victims were found with gunshot wounds, and two were pronounced dead at the scene.

The scene has since been secured. Authorities urged the public to stay away as a heavy police presence remains while the suspect or suspects have not yet been apprehended.

St Clair Avenue is a bustling midtown street lined with shops and restaurants. It hosts the festival’s 22nd iteration, featuring live music and dance performances that attract a wide audience.
