At midnight, a series of drone attacks descended on the Kyiv region, claiming at least 27 lives and injuring dozens, according to Governor Tymur Tkachenko.
The strikes, which targeted the residential Bucha district, left 42 civilians injured, including four children, and forced the evacuation of 381 people from homes and businesses.
In a further assault on the Boryspil district, a 14‑year‑old boy was killed, Tkachenko said, calling the strike "yet another victim of Russian terror."
President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed condolences to the victims and reported that more than 300 emergency responders were dispatched to the affected area. He also announced additional strikes against Russian forces in Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia.
The Ukrainian armed forces reported shooting down 233 Russian drones in the same window of time, while authorising increased support from international partners to counter the surge in UAV attacks.
Earlier in the day, Russian forces also struck the Belgorod and Rostov regions in Russia, with the Governor of Rostov reporting seven casualties.
