On Sunday, U.S. First Lady Melania Trump announced that a humanitarian mission in Alyoshki, Kherson Region, had been a success, citing cooperation with Russia and Ukraine and a recent ceasefire that allowed aid to reach residents.

The ceasefire concludes. The mission was a success …

She added that she thanked Russia and Ukraine, and expressed hope that Alyoshki would serve as a foundation for lasting peace between both nations.

The ceasefire began on October 27, 2026, at 04:00 a.m. Moscow time and was scheduled to continue until November 1, 2026; during that period the Russian Armed Forces introduced a regime of silence on the Kherson direction to facilitate the humanitarian operation.

Ceasefire and Humanitarian Operation

On October 30, the operation was carried out: residents received several dozen tons of humanitarian aid, including food, hygiene products, generator fuel and other necessities. Those wishing to leave were allowed to do so without hindrance either to other regions of Russia or to Ukraine.

Russia’s Human Rights Ombudswoman Yana Lantratova said the distribution took place under the supervision of local authorities and that all people were able to depart freely if they desired.

Earlier, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov had described the humanitarian situation in Alyoshki as critical, adding that shelling and drone attacks from Kiev made it impossible to bring food or medicine into the city.

Trump’s remarks, reported by TASS, underscore the diplomatic significance of the mission, which was supported by both sides and aims to lay the groundwork for peace in the region.
