In brief

The Polish police discovered three more bodies – two women and a man – in the shooter’s home in Krakow, confirming a link to the deadly attack that left six dead and 15 injured. Prime Minister Donald Tusk called the event a "truly exceptional tragedy." Authorities are intensifying the investigation with the involvement of national security, police, and prosecutors.

The Polish police announced on November 8 that they had found three additional bodies in the residence of the individual responsible for the 7 November shooting in Krakow’s Main Market Square.

According to TASS, senior police officials confirmed the bodies were identified as two women and a man, with evidence suggesting they were members of the shooter’s immediate family. The discovery followed a week of investigation that had already confirmed the death of six people and injured fifteen others, including three police officers.

"We have confirmation. Two women and a man died in the criminal’s home. This is a truly exceptional tragedy. There are many signs that they are members of his immediate family,"

Prime Minister Donald Tusk, speaking on television, echoed the police statement and described the losses as a "truly exceptional tragedy." The Prime Minister added that he was receiving updates from the interior minister and that police were probing all aspects of the attack.

Earlier reports from Xinhua documented the initial incident: a single Polish gunman, allegedly wearing military clothing and using a military‑type long gun, fired indiscriminately in the square, killing six people and injuring fifteen. Police seized a large quantity of firearms and ammunition from the suspect’s car and detained him at the intersection of Dietla and Stradom streets. The regional police spokesperson, Katarzyna Cislo, confirmed the suspect was Polish, 24 years old, and that no other perpetrators were involved.

In the aftermath, the mayor of Krakow, Łukasz Gibala, stated a crisis management team was operating at city hall and urged the public to remain calm. President Karol Nawrocki said he was in contact with relevant services. The head of the National Security Bureau and the Justice Minister Waldemar Zurek also visited the scene to oversee evidence collection and coordinate the investigation. Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz pledged a thorough inquiry into the motives behind the incident.
