In brief

On November 1, 2026, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority introduced an updated artificial intelligence strategy, covering 41 operational areas and launching 40 AI products, with goals to add over AED300 million annually and transition half of its services to an agentic AI ecosystem. The rollout will feature an AI chatbot, an e‑NOC system and a bus network planner to improve traffic flow and customer experience. Director‑General Mattar Al Tayer said the initiative aligns with Dubai’s vision for global smart‑mobility leadership.

On 1 November 2026, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai announced the launch of its updated artificial intelligence strategy, a move presented by Director‑General Mattar Al Tayer at a press briefing in Dubai’s RTA headquarters. The new framework spans 41 operational areas and introduces 40 AI products, including a chatbot, an e‑NOC system, and a bus network planner.

The strategy is designed to reinforce Dubai’s standing as a global leader in AI‑powered mobility, aiming to streamline transport and mobility services while improving traffic flow and customer satisfaction. Al Tayer explained that the plan is part of a larger digital transformation effort sought to make Dubai a model city for future technologies.

Strategic Scope and Implementation

Al Tayer noted that the strategy’s first two rollout waves target 11 business areas. Eleven of the 40 proposed AI products have already been completed, with four foundational projects serving as a launchpad. The full implementation is slated for roughly two and a half years.

Central to the proposal is the integration of an agentic AI ecosystem, with a goal of moving 50 percent of RTA’s operations to AI‑driven processes. This transition is expected to deliver more intelligent systems capable of data analysis, outcome prediction, decision support and end‑to‑end service delivery.

The RTA also highlighted how the new AI offerings are poised to create tangible economic benefits. Over the course of the strategy’s rollout, the authority estimates a yearly added value of over AED300 million, while also promising significant operational efficiencies.

In addition to the core products, the updated plan includes public‑sector initiatives aimed at enhancing the user experience. The AI‑powered chatbot will offer real‑time assistance to commuters; the e‑NOC (Electronic Network Operations Center) will enable faster incident resolution; and the bus network planner will optimize route scheduling to reduce congestion.

Al Tayer emphasized that the initiative aligns closely with Dubai’s leadership directives to accelerate AI adoption across government sectors. He highlighted the emphasis on human‑centred services that promote wellbeing, describing the overall framework as an advanced stage in RTA’s digital transformation journey that will enable more proactive, personalised mobility solutions.

Looking ahead, RTA officials have outlined further steps, including ongoing monitoring of implemented systems and expansion of AI services to new domains within the transport network. These efforts are projected to deepen Dubai’s role as a hub for smart, innovative technologies that serve the needs of residents and visitors alike.
