Russian Soldier Kills Four in Gun Rampage in Occupied Crimea
Four people were killed by a soldier in Russian‑annexed Crimea in an apparently random gun spree.
The Moscow‑installed regional governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said the gunman opened fire on his fellow soldiers, killing one and wounding another before moving to civilian targets.
In the village of Khmelnytske, the attacker killed two men aged 71 and 59 and a 64‑year‑old woman, while three other people were injured.
The suspect has been detained, but the motive behind the shooting and his allegiance within the Russian armed forces are still being investigated.
Officials urged residents to rely only on official information and not spread unverified rumours about the attacker’s identity or motives.
Russia has controlled Crimea since 2014, but the international community largely regards the annexation as an occupation of Ukrainian land.
The region remains a focal point of conflict, with Ukraine routinely targeting Russian military positions in the peninsula.
