In brief
Fu Zai, China’s first police corgi, is quickly making headlines with his unique charm and endless love for food. Recently praised for his impressive performance as a sniffer dog in the Weifeng Public Security Bureau, this little canine has captivated over 400,000 followers on social media since joining the force in the fall of 2025. His journey began when a dog trainer recognized his potential while playing in a park, leading to his recruitment as a working dog in Shandong province.
Despite his achievements, Fu Zai’s insatiable appetite often leads him into amusing predicaments. During a recent patrol, he was filmed snatching a sausage from a child’s hand, prompting his trainers to focus on improving his impulse control. The adorable corgi's antics have not gone unnoticed, as many fans have cheered him on and some have even offered to donate sausages for his next outing. In another incident, Fu Zai faced playful disciplinary actions when his toys and treats were taken away as a "Lunar New Year bonus" after he was found napping on the job. This behavior, according to dog experts, is typical for corgis, known for their distractible nature and strong prey drive. Leonardo Palacio, a dog trainer specializing in behavioral challenges, explained the typical traits of the breed and the fun difficulties that come with their spirited personalities. In every escapade, Fu Zai continues to spread joy and engage with his followers as he serves in his unique role, proving that even police work can come with a touch of cuteness and mischief.
