Local police confirmed on Monday that eight laborers were killed and a couple of others sustained burn injuries when a construction vehicle struck a high‑voltage power line in the Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan, India.

Incident details

The accident occurred during a road‑laying project where a machine used for mixing gravel had come into contact with an overhead high‑tension electricity line. The collision caused fatal electrocution for all eight workers inside the vehicle. The event was reported by a local cop, who said the machine was operating on the construction site at the time of the incident.

All of the deceased were labourers engaged in the road‑laying effort. The machine had been driven along the construction site when the overhead line struck the metal frame, surcharging the vehicle and delivering a lethal shock to those on board.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital for burn injuries sustained from the electric shock. According to police, the two injured workers were taken to the nearest facility and are receiving treatment.

Police authorities said the incident has been registered as an accident involving a high‑voltage line. They emphasized the need for reinforced safety checks around construction sites that approach power lines.

No further details have been released at this time, but authorities have pledged a full investigation into the circumstances that led to the vehicle's accidental contact with the power line.
