Football is life for former Ted Lasso actor Cristo Fernandez.
After a knee injury forced him to abandon youth football at 15 in Guadalajara, the 35‑year‑old Mexican lived in London, securing the role of Dani Rojas – named in the hit Apple TV series – before turning back to the sport he once loved.
In May, Fernandez signed for American second‑tier side El Paso Locomotive following a two‑month trial. On Sunday, he entered the 79th minute of the group stage clash against rivals New Mexico United as a substitute, marking his historic debut.
The match ended 2‑0 in favour of New Mexico, and Guerrero – a long‑time fan of the show – was cautioned after a foul on the away goalkeeper.
He says the return to professional soccer embodies “believing in yourself, taking risks, and chasing your dreams no matter how unexpected the path may be.”
